Charmin Parody

My good friend Andres Arce visited me from California. When he was in town, we had a brainstorm marathon of hilarity. One idea that really, really stuck with me and really makes me laugh every time I think about it, is a sort of parody of the Charmin toilet paper commercials. But instead of an advertisement, this was more of a shot idea where a red Charmin bear completely ruins a hardworking painter’s day. The bear defiles a freshly painted white wall by pressing his cheeks against it and creating a “spider web”-like net of blue goo. Why the bear does this is a horrifying mystery.

I created this animatic of how the story would go in its entirety. It sits at 1 minute long. This animatic features 12 unique shots illustrated by me. The highest priority shot, in my earnest opinion comes in at 35 seconds in the animatic. That’s the shot I would aim to create in 3D first, as it is the highest priority. I began to work in Houdini. I really wanted to sell the spider web splatter above all else.
