I’m currently a freelance visual effects artist looking for video graphics opportunities wherever they may be, which has ranged from major brands such as Schlotsky’s and Cinnabon, to post production houses like Company 3. This project was a collaboration between myself and two other talented VFX artists. In this project, I once again took up the role of CG Generalist, although this time I was also a compositor. A true generalist! Kaden Lewis and Avery (Chunyen) Chang did their part providing the sweet particle and pyro FX. Throughout this 10 week collaborative experience, we were mentored weekly by creative leaders at Harbor Picture Company- Dongyoon (Billy) Jang, Kyle Cody, Molly Intersimone, and Olivia Burke, who helped guide the direction of our VFX and provide helpful feedback. This was another involved exercise wherein I pushed my limit of flexibility as a Generalist. I was directing, storyboarding, coordinating team meetings, location scouting, managing equipment, modeling, lighting, texturing, filming, shading, animating, compositing, and sound editing. This was also my first use of AI generated content in a project. Through this exercise, we will study different types of fractures and the constraints between pieces once they crack. The tools learned through this exercise can help us destroy statues, roads, buildings, crack eggs, glass, the possibilities are limitless. If this project were to be furthered, I would add different levels of debris. What you see now are just the largest chunks, the actual pieces of the model being flung. However, this project could benefit with motion blur, a small puff of a pyro cloud, and very tiny particles dubbed “debris”. This is the most advanced way of shuffling cards humanly possible. Actually, on second thought, it might not even be possible. This fun animation was created using the phyllotactic pattern. Phyllotactic spirals can be found all around nature; they form the arrangement of seeds on a sunflower, petals on a rose, the shell of a pinecone, and more. Here, they form a deck of cards!

This 3D modeled house is based off of a real historical house in downtown Green Bay, Wisconsin built in 1908. This small office building follows the astylistic utilitarian architectural style. What's cool about this 3D model is I've programmed most features like width, depth, height to be controlled with sliders in the user interface! Houdini's node based procedural workflow is a lot of fun to learn and use.

I created 4 totally unique textures from pictures of objects I had lying around the house! My favorite textured object in the collection might be the jeans cube. It just looks so funny to me, like here is a cube wearing denim... I used both painted and procedural shading methods to get the looks that I wanted.
